EnviroShred NW has partnered with Lamb's Markets for free document shredding events at four of the grocer's store locations! Community shred days provide a safe way to eliminate sensitive documents, like credit card and financial statements, old IRS tax forms, pre-approved credit card statements, bills, checks, documents with pin numbers, expired passports, etc. Documents will be securely shredded on-site. In addition, all shredded material will be recycled at the end of the day, making this event both secure and environmentally sustainable. Please see below for the free shred day near you!

You'll be able to recycle your Styrofoam this Saturday, Jan 8th, from 9am - 3pm at the West End Building, 4101 Kruse Way, Lake Oswego. Cost is $5 per car and $10 per truck or SUV. Volunteers will also be collecting food donations for the Oregon Food Bank! More information can be found here.

EFI Secured Shredding is partnering with Christ Community Church in Vancouver, WA, to provide the Vancouver community a secure way of destroying their confidential information. The event will go from 10-2 or until the truck fills on 7/17/10 at 11900 NE 9th St Vancouver WA 98682. This has been a fantastic event for us in the past so make sure you are there early. As always, attendees are invited to bring in three standard sized bankers boxes of material to be securely destroyed. Staples, paper clips, hanging folders, and rubber bands are fine; just make sure you do not have any three ring binders mixed in.

The Portland and Lake Oswego-Dunthorpe Alumnae Clubs held an exciting Speed Read event just before the Portland Trail Blazers game. Competing in the Speed Read event were a celebrity participant, former Trail Blazers player Jerome Kersey, a Pi Phi alumna, and two Oregon Gamma collegians.
A total donation of $750 was given to First Book by the Portland Trail Blazers on behalf of the Portland Alumnae Club and Lake-Oswego Dunthorpe Alumnae Club.
First Book provides new books to children in need addressing one of the most important factors affecting literacy - access to books.

We are partnering with EFI Shredding and Storables to host our third annual shred event. Your first two boxes will be shredded at no charge, with suggested donation of 1-2 school supplies to support local students. From 10am-2pm, 3/6/10, we'll be at both Storables locations, at 9140 SW Hall Blvd., Tigard, 97223, and 105 Northwest 13th Ave., Portland, 97209. We'll be there to answer your organizing questions and provide helpful tips. Storables will also be having their File-in-Style office sale. Organizers Northwest, together with Storables and EFI Secured Shredding, hosted the 3rd Annual FREE Shred Event for the Portland Metro area. It was a great success, and a lot of fun!
We shredded 9,000 lbs of confidential information. This translates to saving an estimated 31,500 gallons of water, 76-140 trees, and 18,000 KWh of electricity!
In addition to offering free shredding, Organizers Northwest and Storables held a Paper Management Workshop. Attendees learned how to organize their home offices, get rid of paper clutter, and set up a customized solution for their spaces.

The city of Lake Oswego will be hosting a block foam (aka "styrofoam") recycling event on Sunday, January 10, 2010, in the parking lot of the West End Building, 4101 Kruse Way. The event will run from 9am - 3pm (or until the trailer is full).
Cost is $5 per carload, $10 per truck/van/SUV load. Donations for the Oregon Food Bank will also be appreciated.
Feel free to collect and bring what you may have at home, check with your neighbors, friends, etc. to make it worth your trip and keep the foam out of the landfill.
Quinland Porter is the Director at Young Musicians & Artists, Inc., and divides her time between planning the next great YMA event and volunteering as a mentor. YMA is a two-week resident visual and performing arts summer program housed at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. YMA has expanded its goal to include not only students in instrumental music, but theatre, musical theatre, choir, piano, dance, photography, the visual arts, and creative writing.

We just wrapped up an evening of business networking for the greater good at the Oregon Food Bank and felt it was a smashing success! Missy Gerber and her team from Organizers NW volunteered to prepare seasonal fruits for distribution and meet other likeminded businesses. Missy has been to her share of networking events and was inspired, along with Michael Thompson from Market Accelerators, to organize an event that combined networking with helping others.
That evening, the volunteers bagged over 25,000 pounds of fruit for those in need!
